HAWES FAMILY TAKES TOP HONORS AT FORT PIERCE MAKO OWNERS FUNAMENT
 
The Hawes family, fishing aboard their Mako 234 -Triple Threat, shared an impressive victory in the Fort Pierce Mako Owners Funament, based out of the Fort Pierce City Marina, June 14 – 16. Several 20-pound class kingfish, a 30-pound kingfish, dolphin, and a sailfish release earned them the TOP MAKO BOAT award. Hayden Hawes also won the TOP MALE ANGLER title. A field of 24 boats fished the event.
 
TOP FEMALE ANGLER honors went to Jennifer Lopez, for catches of bonito as heavy as 22 pounds. She fished aboard the Salty Rednecks, a Mako 17. Charlotte Keysers, age ten, repeated as the TOP JUNIOR GIRL, with catches of Spanish mackerel and barracuda. TOP JUNIOR BOY was ten-year-old Bobby DeBold, with Spanish mackerel, kingfish, dolphin and a cobia. Ironically, both the TOP JUNIOR GIRL and TOP JUNIOR BOY fished aboard the Grizzly Bear, a 1979 Mako 21.
Cobia weighing 33 and 35 pounds earned Jay Gargiulo the MOST OUTSTANDING INSHORE CATCH, whereas a teamed sailfish release by nine-year-old Isaiah Blackburn and ten-year-old Gavin Glennon scored them the MOST OUTSTANDING OFFSHORE CATCH.
